My best redstone build yet — an automated farm

The Build

Spent about 3 days on this one. The basic idea is simple — use observer blocks to detect when crops grow, then fire pistons to harvest them automatically.

Why it took 3 days

The tricky part was the water channels. You need the water to flow toward a collection point without flooding the wrong areas. I messed this up 4 times.

What I learned

  • Observer blocks fire a redstone pulse when they detect a block update
  • Pistons extend for 1.5 ticks then retract — you need to time the collection right
  • Use hoppers under your collection chest, not above

Watch it run
